The Early Childhood Leaders of Color Collaborative gathered over 190 leaders of color in New Orleans for their annual REST Conference. Three days of prominent guest speakers, breakout sessions, and intentional experiences designed around one purpose: giving the people who pour into children every day the space to pour back into themselves.
In addition to full conference coverage, we provided an on-site headshot booth so every attendee left with a professional portrait alongside the community they came to build. This was not a standard conference, and the imagery was not standard coverage.
The work
Delivered
Full day keynote and session coverage
Breakout session and panel documentation
On-site headshot booth for all attendees
Community and connection moments
how it worked
REST stands for Restoration, Enlightenment, Solidarity, Transformation — and the brief was to document all four. Over three days we covered keynote speakers, breakout rooms, and programming, but equally important were the unscripted moments between sessions. The hugs, the group poses, the laughter, the quiet moments of restoration that defined what made this conference different from every other professional gathering these leaders attend.
Alongside full event coverage, we ran an on-site headshot booth throughout the conference, giving every attendee the opportunity to leave with a professional portrait in addition to the community they came to build. For many early childhood leaders of color, this was the first time they had a professional portrait that reflected them at their best. That was worth documenting too.
